Car detailing tipsIn our busy schedules we do not get time to care for your daily helper – your very own car. Imagine how things would go upside down without your car for even a day. A car break down would be your worst nightmare. It is very necessary to keep your car in optimal condition to ensure that you get the best performance from it. What we usually do it to turn open the garden hose and spray the water all over the car body and under the car and run down all the dirt from it. Now you say to yourself “Oh! Lovely! You look so clean now”. What next, you take a cloth from your backyard and wipe it all off. You now feel proud that you have spared time for your car and cleaned it. Well, you are wrong. You have not cleaned it; you have literally fooled yourself and your car of faking to have cleaned it. You car is not clean when you just run water down it. There is much more to it.

Proper detailing is very necessary to make your car clean. Detailing is not just about washing and waxing, it’s much beyond that and a sign that you do care for your car. Take time and wash every inch of your car and you will be surprised by the final look of your car. Begin with the interior cleaning process. Take out all the floor mats. Vacuum the upholstery and the floorings. Clean beneath the seats and move the seats if necessary. Clean the dashboard and remove any unnecessary bills etc from it and vacuum it. Clean the carpets using a foaming cleaner and wipe it off with sponge. Damp away all the excess moisture that may remain or else it might lead to mildew growth. Clean all the hard surfaces with the appropriate cleaner. Condition the leather upholstery. Use an air blower to remove dust from the crevices and the buttons and other detailing on the dash board. Clean the mirror and lenses with the lens cleaner solution to make it sparkling clean. Air vent grills and other interior recesses can be cleaned of dust using a cotton swab.

While cleaning the windows, if you have used a tint film then make sure that the detergent that you use does not contain ammonia. You can try using Seltzer to clean the glass and then wiping it off with a newspaper will make sure that no water stains are formed on the glass surface.

After you have finished the interior jobs, go on to the exterior car wash and wash your car properly beginning with the wheels and then move from top to the sides and down. Make sure that you use a car shampoo. Wipe off with a dry soft cotton cloth of mitt. Now check for any issues with the paint. Note all stains and scratches and begin with mild cleaners and then move on to aggressive cleaners if you find it necessary. Once the scratches are worked on do a machine buff.

Wax or polish your vehicle only after the fine lines and scratches are removed. Polish in circular swirling motion. While detailing your car, polish in the door jambs, door hinges and behind the bumper. The wax coating acts like an oil layer preventing the paint from drying out. Minute scratches are filled in by the wax coating. After waxing, remove the wax that might have caught into the crevices, rubber or plastic areas, or on the emblems. You can use cotton swabs and dampened toothbrushes for this purpose.

Now your coupe is ready to rock the roads and make every eye turn towards it.
